We began searching within Lancaster County for a home for our family of five, in the summer of 2016. The first home that caught our eye happened to be listed by Berkshire Hathaway. It was by requesting a showing of this house, that we met Berkshire Hathaway realtor, Virginia (Ginger) Volpone for the first time. While the house wasn't quite what we had hoped for, we knew instantly that we had found a fantastic realtor. Ginger asked us all of the right questions, and had us planning our next steps in the process of purchasing a home within no time. She recommended resources to us so that we could educate ourselves on the home-buying process as well as the mortgage lending process, and she offered insight into the current market. Then she did something even more wonderful: using her expertise, she matched us up with another realtor on her team, Elizabeth Saragosa-Ayer. From that point forward, it was Elizabeth who primarily helped us along the journey of finding our dream home. I honestly don't think that Ginger could have recommended a more helpful, relevant, passionate professional for us. Elizabeth is dynamic, responsive, and driven. She never once made us feel foolish for being indecisive, or hesitant, and always encouraged and supported us to go with what felt like the best decision to us. Our search lasted over a year, and I am sure that Elizabeth showed us over 35 houses that we found using multiple listing apps and publications. We got to know each other quite well over that time, realizing that Elizabeth is not just a great realtor, but a truly lovely family- and community-minded friend. With the buyer's market being so competitive and homes selling the same day they are listed, often higher than asking price, it was easy to become discouraged. However, Elizabeth happily and confidently assured us that she wouldn't give up until we had found the one. We credit Elizabeth with finding the house that would eventually become our home. Having been listed by another realtor, we found the photos to be unflattering, and we honestly would not have scheduled a showing if it was completely up to us. However, Elizabeth told us that she had shown the home to another client, and that she had a feeling it had everything we were looking for. We figured it was worth a try, and she showed us the house. It was completely perfect. We were instantly in love with the place, and decided to submit an offer immediately. How Elizabeth knew us so well that she could tell she had found the house for us, I'll never know. But, she did. She found a house that was better than any of the others we had seen that had been listed at much higher prices! Even though it would not have caught our eye as it was listed, it was, indeed, our dream home. She worked hard for us both before and after we made our decision - staying up past midnight to negotiate our offer with the seller's realtor. Even now, after we are happily settled and enjoying our new neighborhood, she checks on us to see how we are doing. We truly can not say enough about Elizabeth, Ginger, and Berkshire Hathaway. If you are in the market for a home, or considering selling, please do yourself a favor and contact them. You won't regret it, and you will never find a better, more knowledgeable team. Ginger and Elizabeth are the hardest-working, most dedicated, savvy professionals I could imagine, and we are so very thankful for them.
